Nissan Versa Electrical Fuse Replacement Guide - 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 (2024)

This 2019 Versa SV was equipped with "Low Profile" mini blade electrical fuses.

Please double check the old fuses in your Versa before buying new ones. Some model years or vehicles in other parts of the world might be equipped with standard mini blade electrical fuses or possibly even Micro2 type fuses.

A white plastic fuse puller tool should be included on the interior passenger compartment electrical panel.

If the tool is missing, you could instead use a pair of needle nose pliers with rubber insulated handles.

In order to access the interior passenger compartment electrical panel, you'll either need a plastic pry bar tool or a flat head screwdriver.

Please make sure the ignition is turned to the "OFF" position and remove the key. For extra safety, you can also disconnect the "-" negative battery terminal.

The first two steps are to open the hood and then move to the right (driver) side of the engine bay.

The primary fuse box is located just behind the 12V automotive battery and to the right of the engine air filter housing.

There are three retaining clips on the top of the fuse box cover that secure it in place.

Then push in the release tabs on the retaining clips situated at the right rear and right front of the fuse box cover.

There is a fuse location diagram located on the underside of the fuse box cover and also another one in the owner's manual.

Most Nissan vehicles are equipped with electrical panels that are either upside down or installed vertically.

The Versa is equipped with a vertically mounted fuse block.

Gently pull the release tab on the left side of the fuse panel out towards the engine.

Once the two retaining clips have been released, slide the electrical panel out of the box and turn it over to access the fuses.

The interior passenger compartment electrical panel is located behind a plastic cover on the outside edge of the dashboard on the driver's side of the vehicle.

Gently pry out the rear edge of the access cover to release the retaining clips.

Pull the three tabs on the front edge (closer to the front of the car) out of their slots in the dashboard.

There is a fuse location diagram on the underside of the access cover and also another diagram in the owner's manual.

There should be a white plastic fuse puller tool attached to the top center of the fuse panel.

If the tool is missing or broken, you can instead use a pair of needle nose pliers with rubber insulated handles.

Squeeze the end of the tool to open the jaws and place them over the old fuse that you'd like to check or change.

Pull the old fuse straight out of the socket.

If the thin metal strip or "band" in the translucent plastic center of the old fuse appears to be burnt, broken or shriveled up, the old fuse is most likely "blown" and should be replaced.

If the thin metal bar in the middle of the old fuse appears to be intact, the old fuse might still be in good working condition.

Since new fuses are so inexpensive, the old fuse should still be replaced as part of your electrical problem troubleshooting process.

Push a new fuse of the same amperage rating (E.G. 5A, 10A, 15A, 20 amps, etc.) straight into the socket.

If you would like to add a hard-wired 12 volt power source for an automotive accessory such as a digital gauge, a cell phone charger, a dash cam, a back-up camera, a radar & laser detector or an LED lighted Uber / Lyft ride sharing service sign, install an "Add-A-Circuit" fuse tap adapter (also known as a "piggy back fuse holder").

Use a digital multimeter to find either a "switched" or "hot / live" circuit depending on your needs for the device. A "switched" circuit will be off when the ignition is in the "Off" position and only supply 12 volt power when the ignition is in the "On" position. A constant or "hot" / live circuit will always supply 12V power even when the SUV's ignition is switched off. Be careful to not drain the 12V automotive battery if you choose a hot / live circuit that is always on.

If you suspect that a faulty relay is the cause of your electrical problem, the easiest way to troubleshoot the issue is to simply install a new relay of the same amperage rating.

Carefully pull the old relay straight out of the electrical panel and push in a new one of the same amperage rating.

You could also test the old relay with adigital multimetertool.

Make sure the new fuse is fully seated in the socket.

To replace the access cover, first re-insert the three tabs on the front edge into their slots.

Swing the rear of the cover closed and push on it to secure the retaining clips.

If you are done checking or changing fuses in the main engine bay fuse panel, carefully slide it back down into the box.

Push on the panel to secure the two retaining clips.

Lower the cover down on to the top of the fuse box.

You should feel or hear the clips "click" securely into place.

Double check that the cover is securely attached before moving on to the next steps.

Test the electrical component that you were having issues with such as the stereo system, horn, headlights, tail lights, power driver seat, A/C system, power windows, windshield wipers, interior lights, tail lights, backup camera or the power door locks.

If you are still having the same electrical problem, there could be a shorted out wire or the component itself has failed and needs to be replaced.

Be sure to write down the fuse change in your car's service records.
