Harry Maguire declares himself fit to face Scotland

Harry Maguire has declared himself fit for England’s match against Scotland on Friday.

Maguire, 28, returned to England training last Thursday after sustaining an ankle injury last month but was left out of Southgate's 26-man squad against Croatia on Sunday. He last played on May 9 during Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Aston Villa, but has said he is “fit and fresh” to take part in England’s upcoming Group D fixture.

Gareth Southgate’s side got off to an encouraging start in the European Championship following a 1-0 win against Croatia at Wembley.

McGinn hopes Grealish doesn't start for England

In the build-up to England vs Scotland on Friday, kick-off at 8pm BST, the Aston Villa midfielder has said he hopes his club team-mate Jack Grealish doesn't play.

Rabiot says France “needed to send a message” following win over Germany

Following their 1-0 win over Germany on Wednesday night, Adrien Rabiot has said that France “needed to send a message” to the rest of the teams in the competition.

“There was expectation around us, we knew that. We suffered sometimes but we didn’t concede anything.

“We had mental and collective strength. We are very proud of this match. We did not let our heads drop, we were a real team on the pitch, we felt that on the pitch, across all the lines.

“That is what the coach wanted, we are truly really happy. Deschamps has brought about tactical rigour, I have been learning it over the last two seasons. It bodes well for what’s to come. We had to show up, we were the last team to play. We had to send a message.”

Rudiger admits his “nibble” on Pogba looks “unfortunate”

Antonio Rudiger has admitted that what Paul Pogba described as a “nibble” looks “unfortunate”.

Pogba claimed Rudiger “nibble” him during France's win over Germany but insists the defender should not face a ban for the incident.

Rudiger has since said: “I should not come close with my mouth to his back, no doubt about it. It looks unfortunate," the 28-year-old told reporters after the game. "Paul and I have talked about it as friends after the final whistle.

“And he stated in our little talk and talking to the press that it was no bite, as some viewers first thought it was. Even during the match, the ref told me that he would have punished me if he thought that it was violent conduct.”

Greenpeace issue apology for paraglider protest

Greenpeace have released an apology after a paraglider caused injuries to several people ahead of kick-off in the France vs Germany game.

The statement read: “Greenpeace Germany offers a full and unreserved apology to those who were injured and impacted as a result of our protest before yesterday’s UEFA football match in Munich.

“We are seeking to verify the extent of the injuries and hope for a quick recovery for all those affected.

“A lone paragliding protestor sought to fly over the stadium to release a soft ball carrying a note of protest against VW, a sponsor of the event, calling upon the company to accelerate its phase-out of climate-wrecking petrol and diesel cars.

“The pilot was forced to land inside the stadium as a result of technical failures, which we will fully investigate.

“Greenpeace takes safety very seriously and will mount a full investigation into what went wrong. We will fully cooperate with all relevant authorities.

“We would like to repeat our full and unreserved apology to those who were injured and impacted as a result of this accident.”
