Elden Ring Sellia Secret Candle Towers: How To Light The Flames (2024)

Elden Ring Sellia’s Secret is a key item you’ll receive from Sage Gowry upon retrieving the Unalloyed Gold Needle from Commander O’Neil in central Caelid. Even if Gowry’s Sellia Secret Note doesn’t look important at first sight, it holds the key to unlocking the Town of Selia, an essential location in Caelid.

This item also allows you to remove the large barrier on the northern side of Sellia, Town of Sorcery, thus connecting the north and southern Caelid. Therefore, if you don’t know how to use Sellia’s Secret note in Elden Ring, I’ll tell you everything you need to know about it throughout the guide below.

Where To Find Sellia’s Secret Note

Sellia’s Secret Note is an item you’ll receive from Gowry, so you can’t find it while free-roaming. To get your hands on it, you’ll need to find Gowry’s Shack south of Sellia Town. You can see the said shack marked on the map below.

Inside the marked shack, you’ll find Sage Gowry, who wants to save Milicent but needs your help. By talking to Gowry, you’ll start Gowry’s request or quest if you want, and you’ll need to get the Unalloyed Gold Needle. Upon retrieving the needle, if you return to Gowry, he will give you the Sellia Secret Note (pictured below).

Keep in mind, though, that after you get this note, the quest continues, and you’ll need to find Milicent in the Church Of The Plague.

Now, once Milicent starts her journey, you’ll be able to access Gowry’s shop and learn new spells. At this point, his quest is over, and it’s time to take a closer look at the Sellia’s Secret Note he gave you earlier.

The Town Of Sellia’s Secret Riddle Solution

To decipher Sellia’s Secret, open your inventory and read the note you got from Sage Gowry.

As you can see above, it provides the following details: “The Town of Sellia hides the source. Light three flames atop the candle towers and break the seal.”

Basically, this note tells you that to break the seal on the large gate in Sellia, you’ll have to find three candle towers and light the candles on top of them. What the note doesn’t say, though, is that there are also three additional barriers connected to the said towers, and these barriers grant access to 3 secret rooms, where you’ll find three treasure chests.

So, your objective is to find the three towers and then the chests that grant extra loot. So, let’s see where to find the Town of Sellia Candle Towers and how to light the three flames.

How To Light the Three Flames

Before starting, for this guide to be as helpful as possible, it’s worth knowing that all three Candle Towers can be accessed from the roofs. This means that you should follow a specific path, and after you light all three flames, you’ll be able to get the three chests.

Last but not least, we’ll start from the southern side of the town, moving north. The moment you enter the town, remain on the ground following the main road. As you move north, you’ll see a balcony on the right side, like the one pictured below.

Grab the Redmane Painting, then use Torrent to jump on the roof on the right side. From here, turn around to see the first Elden Ring Sellia Candle Tower (pictured below). Climb the stairs to reach it and light the candle.

Now, descend the stairs and return to the previous roof, where you should see a large branch. Climb the branch, then cross it, and on the other side, you’ll see the second Elden Ring Sellia Tower, which can be accessed by jumping on the small balcony where the ladder is found.

Light the second candle, then remain on the roof and head north. Cross the town and get to the balcony where the Golden Seed is found near a small golden tree. While standing on the balcony, look southwest to find the third Elden Ring Candle Tower. Jump on the branch below, and then get to the ladder and light the candle.

Where To Find Sellia Candle Towers Barriers

Now that you have found all Candle Towers, here is where to find the treasure chests behind the barriers that have been removed. After you light the last tower, jump to the ground and remain on the western side of the town.

Near the western balcony is a hidden room (pictured) with a chest. Open it to get the Spelldrake Talisman +1.

Next, you’ll want to head back to the center of the town, and several steps from the location where you found the Redmane painting (west of the second tower), you’ll find a room with another chest (screenshot below). Inside is the Night Comet Sorcery.

Finally, from the previous chest, head east and exit the city’s walls, then turn north. The last chest (below) is found outside the city (northeastern corner on your map), in a small room on the left side while facing north. Inside the chest is one of the Imbued Sword Keys.
