BlackRock’s chief executive, Larry Fink, took a roughly 18% pay cut in fiscal year 2023, seeing his total compensation reduced from $32.5m in 2022 to $26.9m last year, according to the firm’s most recent proxy report.
Finks’ summary compensation, a figure that includes 2023 awards as well as awards that were earned for previous fiscal years - for example, the vesting of shares granted for work in prior years - dropped primarily due to stock awards falling from $23.2m in 2022 to $16.4m in 2023.
Stock awards formed the bulk of Finks’ compensation. He also received a bonus of $7.9m, a base annual salary of $1.5m and ‘all other compensation,’ which included security and other contributions, of $1m.
